Prof. Msgr. Vladimir Felzmann aka Father Vlad

still working to help God make this World a better place

30/08/2024

Who I am. Identity, Value, Role.

I am defined by my 3Bs: Belonging, Believing and - above all - my behaving.

Belonging.

I belong to my family, Felzmann.

Thanks to my baptism, I am a Catholic Christian. I belong to God.  When celebrating baptisms, I always use Mk 1, 10-11. I am God’s David, beloved.

By birth, I am Czech. By naturalisation – in 1956 - I am British. I have two passports.

Believing

Faith is not a verb/ I cannot faith anything.

a. I believe = perception. “Land ahoy! Shucks, sorry, it’s a cloud.” I believe that in everyone, Christ is always there. (Mt 25,40). I believe the contents of the Nicaean Creed. My belief in the being – not existence – of God is backs up by my study of creation: the human body and brain. I believe – I am convinced – that God loves me.

b. Trust. I believe my friends and allies-in-life. I believe Jesus Christ. I accept things unseen (Heb 11,1). I believe God has had  - and continues to have - a plan for me.

c. I believe in Christ’s values. In exercise. In doing my best.

d. I believe in others. When I say “I believe in God” I mean, ‘I commit myself to God,’

Behaving

I strive to do God’s will – as we pray in The Our Father. Civil Engineer to priesthood, spanning now 55 years.

I strive to live in  harmony with the Ten commandments, the Beatitudes and  the two Great Commandments. Living by giving.

Doing God’s will is not only passive – acceptance – but active. My life is a gift from God. Not looking after a gift, is an insult to the giver. At my age, not a good call so I work on my PIES.

Physically. Exercise routine  - on my website - I watch my diet (using vanity to control gluttony), adequate sleep and to minimise risks of dementia, I drink coffee, olive oil and take vitamin D tablets. To keep rheumatism at bay, I use serotonin.

Intellectually. I wrote a fortnightly piece for the Universe Catholic Weekly until it closed. Now I write as fortnightly piece for my website fathervlad.com.

I avoid reading or viewing rubbish. “We are what we ingest.”

Emotionally I keep in touch with a considerable number of families of which I am deemed an honorary member.

I am the primary carer for 91 year old Molly Steele – who is suffering with dementia. . A great gymnasium in patience acquisition.

Spiritually, I keep in touch with my best friend Yesh – Jesus, Christ.

My mission is to realise  - recognise and make real - God’s presence in the SON; my Self, Others and Nature.

I  see my journey to eternity as a game, a fencing with the foil: Vifoil. Virtues fencing vices – and vices with vices.
