still working to help God make this World a better place

Second Sunday after Nativity

“the only begotten Son has made him known.”

As we know, reality is not perception. The Old Testament portrays a God who is both fearsome – in Deut 20,16-7 encouraging genocide – yet is  tender in His. Love.

Jesus, The Word of God, as John’s Gospel puts it,  revealed to us the real, authentic character of God.

Jesus Christ revealed God's character as supremely loving, merciful, just, holy, and compassionate, demonstrating these divine attributes through his life, teachings, and actions like healing the sick, forgiving sins (e.g., the woman caught in adultery), serving humbly (washing feet), and ultimately sacrificing himself, showing God's patient, sacrificial love and desire for relationship, while also embodying divine qualities like omnipotence, omniscience, and eternality.

Respecting the dignity of our humanity – with its freedom to choose the outcome of our Journey to Eternity - God would not force us to live with The Blessed Trinity in eternity. In Matthew 25, 46 we are reminded that if through our way of life, we do not become Capax Dei – capable of life with God – we would go to eternal pain.

How we live our lives has consequences.

If we fail, we can pick ourselves up, say sorry, ask for forgiveness and discover as St Peter did, that we are forgiven. “even though you betrayed me, because you are sorry, feed my lambs. Feed my sheep.” (Jn 21, 15-17)

So, I keep on keeping on, and thanks to my mistakes, growing in wisdom – even at my age…
