still working to help God make this World a better place
“people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light”
The "darkness" represents not just life under Roman occupation with its brutality but also spiritual blindness, sin, oppression, and death, while the "great light" signifies Jesus Christ, his teachings, and his perception of reality.
The Hebrew word for ‘Creator’ is Boreth, a combination of two words: Bo (come) and Re’eh (see). Thus, the word ‘Creator’ is a personal invitation from God to discover God’s presence in space-time.
Thanks to the gift of faith I have been given, Jesus is, right now and always in my heart. Love leapfrogs physical distances and time.
Though materially, life in 21st century UK is, though not always comfortable – just see all the homeless round Victoria – spiritually/emotionally/psychologically it is altogether grim and dark. According to the most recent figures available, in 2023, 1,840 young people under the age of 35 took their own lives in the UK. Around five young people die by suicide every day. Living without a close relationship with God can make life unbearable.
Jesus's ministry brought hope, and the dawning of God's kingdom in places of despair. Jesus enabled his follower to see the world as God sees it.
Thanks to my training as an engineer, looking at the structure of the ear and eye, makes it patently clear there is an intelligent – indeed genius – creator behand it all. Darwin’s theory of natural selection cannot - does not – explain the structure of the ear, eye or indeed brain let alone the procreation of new intelligent life. For me a great light came at Eriskay in 1954 and then Imperial College 1958-62.
Thanks to Jesus, I have a clear identity: I am a child of God. A role: I am here to help God improve the world and a goal: eternal life with God.
Christ’s great light, is indeed great. Thank God for that light. Never take it for granted.
