Sixth Sunday of Easter (in Saskatoon, Canada)

“Loved one another as I have loved you. You are my friends”

Aristotle  Greek philosopher and polymath 384-322 bce)stated that friendship is the mutually acknowledged and reciprocal exchange of goodwill and affection that exists among individuals who share an interest in each other on the basis of virtue, pleasure, or utility.

Epicurus – another Greek philosopher and sage(341-270 bce) said, there must be trust between friends, and friends have to treat each other as well as they treat themselves.

We are friends of Jesus. How close a friend is Jesus in your life?

Aim for the horizon of God’s love. Never reach it, but can make progress.

A sentence that has been a part of my life strategy over the  past 70 years: Good better best, I never let them rest. until m y good is better and my better best.

Go to St Paul’s 1st letter to the Corinthians, chapter 13 – and see on which virtue you  could focus the coming week – and choose a different one every week.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. So, let us keep on loving those we love.
