still working to help God make this World a better place
“They all ate as much as they wanted”
Jesus fed them full. He fulfilled them.
God, being infinite, can concentrate, can focus, on each one of us and nourish us as though we were the only one on earth.
I believe that at the Last Supper, Jesus chose to use materials, bread and wine, to leave us palpable evidence that he wanted to feed us intellectually, emotionally and spiritually.
God, incarnate in Jesus, wanted to leave us his reality incarnate in the bread and wine: “This is my body. This is my blood”.
In other words, ‘this is my life, given, left here on earth till the end of time, for you.’
Internally, as we saw last week, God the Blessed Trinity lives by giving, by loving.
Our faith feeds our mind. God’s love for us, what we used to call ‘charity’, feeds our hearts and hope nourishes our spirituality, our relationships with everything and everyone.
For me, every Holy Communion is like a kiss from God.
It reminds me – it is evidence, an expression - of God’s love. The fullness of which we will experience the moment we die. As you know, I see my life as a journey to eternity in which God is for ever present.
Of course, God is present in the present of the present moment. However, until we are released from our body which limits us, we cannot as yet fully appreciate that experience.
The greatest honour of my priesthood is not only to be able, on behalf of God, to forgive sins, but, on behalf of Jesus Christ, to nourish you with his body and blood.
I thank God for the Eucharist.
