still working to help God make this World a better place

85th Birthday Musings

As I approach my 85th birthday

I am reminded that all is gift

Including God's love for me

thus

There is

Eucharist

An attitude of gratitude to God

underpins my life

Across its PIES

A gift I look after

And aim to use

To help God

Spread his Kingdom

And thus make this world

A far better place.

Genuine gratitude needs to say "Thank you"

To break through the carapace

Of taking everything for granted

That impoverishes life.

As we read in the Preface at Mass

"It is truly right and just

Our duty and our salvation

to give You "thanks"

Lord, holy father

Almighty and eternal God."

I am grateful

to God for my faith and thus love and thus hope

Enabling me to see the past as a rehearsal for the present in which God is present

For God's genius who designed us that the more we give, the more we receive.

All the people who have enhanced my life

From Uncle George to Francesca my dentist

OD that protected me from the negative fall-out of Vatican 2

All those whose generosity enabled me to set up and run SPEC, LOFT and SPECeast, YAP and WDP

Jesus, Aquinas and Shakespeare to Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Bach whose genius have enriched my life

I give not to receive though I receive because I give.

I work with or for others

Never using them as instruments.

God is a verb rather than a noun.

God is

God creates

God loves(*)

God forgives

God rejoices in the repentance of sinners

----

(*) when on mount Horeb, Moses asked God for his name, he heard, "I am".

God does not exist, creation ex-ists, coming out of nothing.

The paradox of life.

Like energy can be seen as waves or particles, depending on how it is viewed, life can be seen as a blessing or a curse. A blessing for those who realise they are here to help God on their way to paradise. Or a curse for those who live to serve the devil, the world and their flesh.

The purpose of suffering across the PIES is an impenetrable mystery

"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me!" (Mt 27,46)

Occasionally accepted by its positive effects. In the case of Yesh, God's presence in our pain - and death as birth into divine eternity.
